PS5 Pro uses the same OS and user interface as PS5 with the same architecture CPU which is AMD Ryzen Zen 2 based 8 core and 16 thread CPU which may clock up to 3.8GHz which is higher than PS5.

Sony didn’t improve the CPU as the Zen 2-based custom CPU is still standing strong. Sony has improved their GPU by improving the Compute Units by 67% and making the RAM faster by 28%, which results in 45% rendering throughput of the GPU.

PS5 GPU has 36CUs and is based on RDNA 2 which makes a total of 2,304 Streaming multiprocessors. According to the claim by Sony, if I calculated the performance the PS5 PRO GPU specs would be 60 CUs which makes a total of 3840 SMs.

AMD RX 6800 also has 3840 SMs, which means the PS5 pro GPU specs will be as powerful as RX 6800. Sony also made their RAM faster by 28%; so I got about 570 GB/s of memory bandwidth by putting that in the calculator.

Sony PS5 PRO Tflops is 16.7 Teraflops. The VRAM used for the GPU is 16GB GDDR6 and 2GB DDR5 additional RAM for the system and UI.

PS5 PRO internal storage is 2TB which may have the same read and write speed as PS5 of about 5.5GB/s (expected). The PS5 pro expandable storage limit is 8TB similar to PS5.

The PS5 pro dimensions will be the same as the PS5 and the weight should be expected to be similar. Sony PS5 Pro weight is 3.1 KG without a disc drive and with a disc drive, it’s 3.2 KG.
